Trish and Geoff are passionate about mentoring young musicians! We started the West Coast Youth Fiddle Summit in 2018 as an opportunity for advancing young fiddle ensembles in Western Canada to meet, build friendships, and make great music together. After meeting twice in Nanaimo, Summit is now a "mobile event" that is hosted by a new youth ensemble each year.
2022 - hosted by the North Shore Celtic Ensemble with guests including Coastline, Fiddelium, and the Calgary Fiddlers
2019 - hosted by Fiddelium with guests including the Bow Valley Fiddlers, North Shore Celtic Ensemble, and the Yukon Fiddleheads
2018 - hosted by Fiddelium with guests including Coastline, North Shore Celtic Ensemble, and the Yuon Fiddleheads
Participating groups have a chance to learn from each ensemble’s director to develop shared repertoire, improve technical aspects of their playing, and explore other aspects of performance and stage craft. This event is designed to honour your commitment to your instrument and your ensemble but also to create new and lasting friendships with your peers.
